With the increasing miniaturisation of components in electronic assembly, previous methods of inspection using the naked eye can prove to be unreliable due to tiredness, loss of concentration etc.

Automatic inspection eliminates errors caused by the human element when inspecting for assembly faults on a PCB. OptiCheck ensures total inspection in the process from the first to the last PCB.

The OptiCheck system can be perfectly integrated into the production line. It offers network compatibility and interprocess communication without high cost.

OptiCheck is an efficient and flexible system for automatic optical inspection of printed boards.

OptiCheck works on the principle of image comparism, basic modern colour image processing and recognition methods. It follows the listed stages:

  • The scanning unit, the scan box for offline operation, or the inline system scans the board and offers a colour image to the computer for validation
  • Following a pre-defined check plan the system checks the single items using algorithms stored in a component library. Like a placement plan OptiCheck "knows" at which position a component has to be found

OptiCheck - Inline System

OptiCheck-Inline solution for full automatic operation.

OptiCheck-Inline system, including a three part ASYS transport module is switchable from single inspection to continuous inspection or no inspection in the case that validation is not necessary.
  • Lane 1: Arrival zone, used as a buffer.
  • Lane 2: Scan zone, for image processing.
  • Lane 3: Exit zone for separating faulty boards.

The system is ready to plug into all common interfaces like Siemens, SMEMA, SMPI, Fuji, Panasonic ...

The Conveyor unit with an additional scan computer allows the parallel picture reception and check. The parallel processing in a twin computer system enlarges the speed - especially for strong production lines.

OptiCheck - Software

OptiCheck-Software for board processing inspection.


OptiCheck-Software follows the principles of image comparison based on most recent methods of colour image processing and recognition.

It works using these steps:

  • the scanner unit, the Scan-box of the TT-System for off-line operation, or the Conveyor-Box of the in-line system scans the board to be checked and offers a two dimensional colour image to the computer for further validation.
  • following a predefined checkplan the system validates the part positions (check areas)using the dimensions and algorithms defined in the library. Like a placement plan of a pick-and-place OptiCheck "knows", at which position a certain part can be expected.

The part positions can be validated matching these criteria:

  • Existence or absence?
  • Correct colour according to a reference image and tolerance pattern?
  • Exact positioning inside of the tolerance frame?
  • ... inside the accepted rotation tolerance?
  • Existence and position of the polarity marker?
  • Label and markers or parts?
  • Appropriately defined contact spaces are checked additionally for bridges.

OptiCheck-Software is able to recognize:

  • 16 MB graphic board
  • SCSI II Adapter (or higher)
  • Operation system: Windows NT,2000,ME,98.
